The ORIGINAL STORY
 

Originally, two boys from N.J. arrived in beautiful Washington State, and after working 20 years farming apples for North Central Washington growers, we started our own orchard.

We wanted to grow the tastiest and healthiest fruit possible.

The lesson we had learned from our experience with commercial orchards was that organically grown fruit was superior in flavor and quality. We felt that chemical herbicides and pesticides were dangerous to workers and polluting to the environment.

So we took the challenge of planting and growing the finest fruit possible.

In 1989, we purchased a piece of virgin land a few miles north of Lake Chelan in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, overlooking the Columbia River. This beautiful region is perhaps the foremost fruit growing location in the world. It is particularly renown for its apples because of the long hot days, cool nights, and extended growing season.

Our two families set out by selecting the leading international varieties and growing the healthiest trees by making homemade compost and spreading natural minerals and sea weeds, rather than using chemical fertilizers.
 
 

Only Organic methods are used!
 

We do hand thinning instead of chemical thinning, manual weed control instead of chemical herbicides, and hand removal of unwanted insect pests. A wide variety of cover crops on the orchard floor creates a balanced habitat.

The advantage of our small farm is we take the time to selectively harvest only the ripest fruit. This means 3-5 pickings of each variety as it ripens, instead of the premature and mass crop harvesting used by large commercial growers. Our final step is to custom pack our fruit ourselves, to be sure that only the finest fruit gets to you.

The result of all this hand labor: top quality, great tasting, highly nutritious, tree ripened, WSDA CERTIFIED ORGANIC fruit.
